SAWMYA FRISK

- Violin

My name is Sawmya Frisk. I am 37 years old and I´m coming from Borlange, Dalarna in Sweden. I´m married to Stephan, and together we´re "Duo Stemya".

My main instrument is violin and my second instrument is mandola. Folk music is my main musical style but I´m also play classical, jazz, blues, pop, rock and folk songs/ singer- and song writer music. I started to play violin at the age of 4-5, when I got through the Suzuki method. Violin teacher Mira Moszny was my first teacher, who has had great succes with her musicpupils. The folk music has always had a great influence and impact on me. I have combined the both music styles, side by side, and brought the best from the two worlds and brought the classical technique and the freedom of folk music together.

I recieved the scholarship of Pål Olle in the year of 2005, at the most visited and famous folk music festival, Bingsjöstämman, in Dalarna, Sweden. I´m very honored and greatful for have been receiving this scholarship. It is a symbol for managing the very rich tradition of this great folk musician Pål Olle. He was a well known and highly respected folk musician, in Dalarna, Sweden.

Since the year of 2007, I´m a proud member of the folk and world music group Caleido, who´s playing universal world music. Caleido has performed at different festivals and charity events, all around in Sweden.
